Spring/Summer 2022 – CSA

WHAT IS A CSA? HOW DOES YOURS WORK? DO I NEED TO BE A “MEMBER”

Originally, CSA stood for “Community Supported Agriculture” and while it still does, the concept and optionality has been modernized to better suit the needs of today’s consumer.  Developed in the 1960’s in Japan, CSA programs are designed to build a relationship between the farmer and community.  Members (that’s you) buy shares in the farms output before the season starts, and then reap the benefits of the harvest each week as the season progresses.  For us, the farmer, this provides assistance early in the season to help offset the costs associated with seeds, transplants, field and greenhouse preparation and labor.  Most importantly, enrolling in a CSA with your local farm minimizes potential food waste created by over production and lack of demand.  Rest assured along with your weekly share will be simple, easy to follow tips in order to incorporate seasonal eating into your own diet.  Thank you in advance for your support, we look forward to having you be a part of our 2022 Spring Summer CSA!

The Weaver Acres CSA is like none other in the area, by purchasing ahead of the season our subscribers are guaranteed a share of all produce grown here on the farm.  CSA Subscribers pick up their share at the Farm Store each week.  The preassembled mix of fresh, local and seasonal fruits and veggies is ready for you as-is or you can use the opportunity to make substitutions when they are available. CSA Products available in addition to our produce include, but are not limited to, local eggs and local mushrooms as well as certain seasonal items produced both locally and regionally (i.e. Strawberries, Blueberries, Sweet Corn, Watermelons, Pumpkins, WNC Apples, and even Peaches and Peanuts from not too far away!).

The 2022 Weaver Acres crop plan includes; Lettuces and Salad Mix, Spinach and Arugula, Stir-Fry and Braising Greens, Kale, Dino Kale, Swiss Chard, Carrots, Beets, Radishes and Turnips, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Kohlrabi, Cucumbers, Summer Squash and Zucchini, Peppers, Eggplants, Tomatoes, Green Beans, Peas, Potatoes, Onions, Okra and much more!
